I’m so excited for this room! I have some really fun ideas for our downstairs playroom and can’t wait for it to be finished. I’m trying to use a lot of items we already have, as well as DIY’ing a bunch of things, so stay posted for those.
Our basement is finished, however, it’s basically a large room, semi-divided into two spaces. We had planned on finishing up the one side and turning it into a guest room, however, we ended up leaving it as one large space. We will be turning the one side into another living room/movie room, plus making space for an office area and then the other side will be the kid’s playroom.
For the kid’s area, I want it to be fun and bright, while keeping it cozy and really organized. I know how quickly toys/art supplies/etc can get out of hand haha, and I’m a big believer in everything having a spot to be put away. That and labels.
We picked up a huge Ikea kallax cube shelf, and it will house all the kid’s toys, art supplies and office supplies. So that’s currently here and I’ve jammed a bunch of items in there for now. I have a cool diy idea for those fabric bins and I’m so excited to get started on that. The wicker bins are from Ikea and they might get a coat of white paint. Then it will be organizing the toys and putting everything away. I love this cube shelf though. There are SO. MANY. CUBES.
^sorry about the picture quality, I just quickly snapped these in the evening
The little reading/craft nook I’m making will go here. I’m thinking lots of fun pillows, some shelving and a little table and stools. I also would love to string a fun pendant but my husband might need some convincing with that one. I plan on making some pretty garlands and have already made a little teepee, but I’m not totally happy with how it turned out, so I’ll be working on that a bit more. I can’t wait to share the progress on this room and if you follow me on instagram, I share little snippets on my insta-stories.
I’ll be sharing my progress in this room as well as the diy’s that I’m doing and I can’t wait to see how it turns out 🙂
